How about repurposing the optic fibers from the IKEA KALLT lamp: http://www.mwili.com/en/flysheetpage/id/8806 I saw it at Vösendorf before Christmas sometime and almost bought one to play with the fibers, but didn't find it online anymore now. -Marius
