Just for the fun of it I have put a recently gained ZX Spectrum+3 8-bit computer in the whateverlab for inspiration and hacking. This is the retrozone.
It has a small software collection, a user manual, and a light gun. There are awesome light gun fames. There’s “Gauntlet”! We can add all the Speccie classics... and new school shit, too.
Fee free to explore the system and understand the machine. (Just please keep the system in good order and don’t take it apart.)
If you ever wanted to learn Z80 assembly, or if you need an 8-bit fix, or even if you want to see how things used to be, the machine is there for you. It can provide much to calm a hackers soul.
In a few weeks I might replace it with something equally enthralling. Or, I might add a solid state storage that will enable a monstrous library of titles to explore. Or maybe we put it on the internet and fill the floppies we already have, with classic titles? (Or maybe we boot a BeBox?)
Let’s see in a few weeks. (If it gets in anyone’s way let me know and I’ll safeguard the system... if you do something awesome with it, let us know!)
And: If anyone else has a system they’d like to put in the retrozone.... lets do it!
