Yes - you should update to the latest MOAI code from here, this bug was already fixed some months ago:

git://github.com/spacepluk/moai-dev.git

Spacepluk recently brought his fork up to date with the latest SDK release as well ..  I am running his MOAI client with great success on Ubuntu 12.04/x86_64 as my main development host, and haven't run into anything major yet.
