RE:FARM THE CITY

Refarm the City are open tools of software and hardware for “urban
farmers”. These tools are used to promote and amplify the dialogue
between urban humans, nature, applied sciences and local resources.
Started 2008 in hangar.org (Barcelona), open tools have been spread
around the planet. Cities like, São Paulo, New York, Paris, Barcelona
or Buenos Aires were the stages of our research and applied
technologies.

Re:farm the City - Vienna:
We will be building a mobile-bar-re:farm equipped with a
cocktail-social-network smartphone app. This farm will be the stage
for workshops during the day with non-alcoholic drinks for kids and
adults. During the night the farm will travel in the festival area and
serve mojitos, caipirinhas or mint tea. This farm will also spread a
new tool for smartphones that combines the ingredients of the
cocktails and what the users have available to prepare them. For
example: Andreas goes to the fridge and only sees ice. He notes “I've
got everything!”. With the app he selects that he has ice and
instantly he receives the locations of people on a map who have
glasses, mint and ron - and if they are willing to meet and have a
drink together in the next 30 minutes and at a distance of 1km around
him. Besides urban cocktails, the app can arrange (for example) for
ingredients of a soup, since all the settings of the mobile
application can be customised.
