[Metalab] http front-end for linux embedded system

hi!
i'm currently working with a linux embedded system (armv5l, debian lenny)
running a http app server. it's going to be accessible via internet for
testing soon.
i wanna do some preparations before sending it into the wild. that's about
what i want:
firewall -> http front-end (encryption,authentication, http specifics) ->
app server (authorization, app server blafoo).

my question:
can someone suggest an open source http front-end for this task?
i'd like it to be fast, secure and lightweight. i'll need at least vhosts,
tls and http forwarding to the app server.


i had a look at thttp and dhttpd and they match my requirements more or
less.
