Hey all,

Google's "Summer of Code" [1] just starts again. It may be a
controversial topic itself, but has good influence on many open source
projects and communities.

Today the student application period started -- for 1 week it's now
possible to apply for a paid internship with your project idea, or one
you might have found on the mentor organisations [2] ideas page - and
preferably already discussed it with them.

Basically, it's a paid internship to develop open source code. 3-4
months work, $ 5000 for each accepted student. The only prerequisite is
that you have to be enrolled at any university with april 14th 2008.

Just so you know - it sure will be fun, a rich experience and good money :)

- Chris
