#102: Combat Wiki Spam
-----------------------+-----------------------
Reporter: msch | Owner: mzeltner
Type: defect | Status: assigned
Priority: blocker | Resolution:
Keywords: wiki, spam |

Comment (by mzeltner):
Having digged through the logs to see how the bots work their way through
the wiki, the idea sprung up to use an automatic whitelist setup based on
specific requests. hop contributed to the idea and said that should be
possible with just Apache config magic, which it is. There is now an
automatic RewriteMap whitelist setup that I believe will fend off at least
some of the bots.
I tested accessing https://metalab.at/whitelist-testing with non-
whitelisted and whitelisted IPs and it seems to work fine.
Current expected behaviour:
New direct request to https://metalab.at/whitelist-testing -> Forbidden
Clear cache -> go to https://metalab.at/wiki/ -> Go to https://metalab.at
/whitelist-testing -> Receive content
At the moment this shows a forbidden page, but will be doing a redirect to
https://metalab.at/wiki/Signup-Error - if the text is not appropriate or
can be improved, please edit it directly!
