<html><head><meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"></head><body dir="auto">I’m a huge retro nerd. <div><br></div><div>I have a collection of over 30 machines and have kept every single machine I’ve ever owned or coded for, since 1983, from the Oric-1 to the SGI Indy to a BeBox and beyond. I also have a small fleet of the modern FPGA-based retro exploration platforms, such as the ZXUNO2VGA and Amiga 500 systems.<div><br></div><div>We used to have retro- sessions at Metalab a few years back, and those were quite fruitful - there is a small but enthusiastic crowd of folks in the Metalab universe who are keen on retro. Harald, who has already introduced himself, has impressed us all with his C64 assembly projects and there are a few other guys who know their way around the old CPU’s, too. </div><div><br></div><div>We have also had a few sessions to play with the results from the yearly “10-LINE BASIC” competition, which my favorite machine (Oric!) has won for the last two years. Because it’s awesome. :) Check that out if you haven’t already .. I’m personally warming up my own entry for next year, so watch out!</div><div><br></div><div>I’m trying to get my collection in a location where it can be opened up for public access, so the machines are on and usable in full battlestation modes. I dream of having retro- computing sessions for the current and also older generation of programmers/hackers to get involved in… surprisingly enough, old machines still have a lot to teach us. </div><div><br></div><div>I have a small project going on elsewhere with my teenage son and his friend, involving the revival of a Commodore PC20-II, found in an attic, and which is still infected with one of the very first .COM TSR viruses. It also has DEBUG.COM onboard, so we are playing a game of defeating the virus, isolating it and triaging the system. This has been very rewarding - it’s extraordinarily empowering for a teenage kid to have access to this sort of thing and learn how computers work. The boys have fully embraced the project, and even have schematics out now to find issues with the power supply so we can continue to play with the virus.</div><div><br></div><div>If there’s interest I’d be happy to boot up retro- sessions at Metalab again. <br><br><div dir="ltr">;<div>--</div><div>seclorum </div></div><div dir="ltr"><br><blockquote type="cite">On 08.11.2022, at 00:45, Felipe Sanches via Metalab <metalab@lists.metalab.at> wrote:<br><br></blockquote></div><blockquote type="cite"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div>YES!!!!</div><div><br></div><div>But I am currently living in London.
